I called for the free CD to get started making money online. After being on hold for only seconds a friendly sales representative greeted me, we continued through the description of the service, it sounded very interesting, and then he asked for my credit card.
"Wait a second, I thought this was a free CD?" I said. He explained that the CD only covered the very high level details that we already discussed on the phone and that the real package with the software and the books would only cost $9.99 for shipping and handling, surely not a problem if I was serious about making money online.
Fine, for the sake of humanity, I'm going to document this on Kashflow.org anyways, let's do it! Next thing I knew I was bounced between overviews of how the system is now activated and my trial of the software was free but to continue past the first month I would automatically be charged (screwed out of) 5 monthly payments of only $69.99 and a sales "manager" that wanted to talk to me about making sure I had not overlooked the upgrade packages. Thank god for Outlook reminders - the cornerstone of my trial software habit!
The promised package of software and books came in the mail only days later. It didn't include the books I was promised for the 10$ shipping and handling charge - instead it was a CD case with everything digitally stored. Better yet, this 10$ CD contains all materials that are available on their website.
Online, the sign-up process is very simple. They just need a name of your "business" and you're off and running. It was easy to pick out one of their many, many ugly website templates. I don't create bead bracelets, earrings, or use a hot glue gun to mount pieces of dryer lint to picture frames - that's OK, as they have a warehouse full of items that you can sell and have shipped directly from them without you needing to do anything!
Once I started to look around inside it sure did look grand - mountains of odds and ends that I could surely find a buyer. That good feeling came to an end when I realized that my basic subscription (without upgrades) was limited to the true crap of the inventory. OK, I thought, if I could only get some products online at least we could try out some of their revenue generation tools to get my store working to start.
Not so fast! Accepting credit cards is an upgrade. Revenue generation is an upgrade. Basically anything you really need to get started is an upgrade. Like the electric belt automatic abs workout, this appears to fall flat on its face as soon as you open it up.
